External Credit and the College Curriculum
Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment Credit, and International College-level Exam credit may count towards requirements for 4-year students in the College Curriculum under the following conditions:
- The credit is earned prior to matriculation to the University of Virginia.
- The credit transfers to the College of Arts & Sciences as course equivalent credit (that is, credit that satisifies a particular course such as CHEM 1410: Introductory College Chemistry I) and not generic credit. All credit ending in "T" (example: CHEM 1000T, 2000T, 3000T, etc) is considered generic credit and will not count towards general education requirements.
- The course equivalent credit fulfills one of the student's outstanding general education requirements.
