EGMT 1540: The Ethics of Sports

Instructor: Swoboda

This course examines the complex ethical landscape of sports. Do sports cause societal division, or do they help promote healing? Do they create opportunities, or do they generate exclusion? Are they fueled by exploitation and capitalism or by popularity and fandom? What purpose do they even serve? We will explore these questions by grappling with topics such as politics and activism, equity and inclusion, money and commercialization, and controversies and milestones.
