EGMT 1520: From Archaeology to People in Medieval Africa

How do archaeologists ask questions, develop methodologies, and work with their finds?  How do data collected during fieldwork provide the basis of understanding many aspects of life in remote periods of history?  In this course we will examine how the scientific method and empirical reasoning work from an archaeological perspective, focusing on how scholars construct data-driven arguments about the medieval period in Africa.
