Is the Past a Foreign Country? Exploring Medieval Worlds Engagements Cohort
This 2024-25 Engagements Cohort will focus on medieval worlds and the way they have shaped and can inform the modern global experience. The cohort will explore what our responsibilities are to the past, what engaging with the medieval lived experience can teach us about vulnerability, how excavating the past can challenge our preconceived notions about the medieval, and why pilgrimage is an enduring practice that breaks down barriers of time and difference.
Call
The Colege Fellows and Engagements Program are seeking 35 students to form an Engagements Cohort interested in fulfiling their four Engagements requirements through the study of medieval worlds. During spring semester, students and faculty will travel to Washington, D.C. to speak with museum and library curators about medieval holdings and participate in a collective "medieval pilgrimage" of our Capitol.
Student members of the Exploring Medieval Worlds Engagements Cohort will:

- Take a field trip to Washington, D.C.
