I have a vivid memory of the moment I first realized what brought me the most happiness in life. I remember sitting on the beach with my mom when I was fourteen, hiding from the harsh sun in the shade of our oversized umbrella. As we watched the other families splash in the surf, she remarked that she always noticed the way my face lit up when I saw a small child. It was an ordinary moment, but it was as if the first piece of my future identity had just clicked into place. It would be a few more years until I found my second passion in the world of science. With the help of inspirational teachers, I developed a love for psychology and biology, resulting in my decision to major in neuroscience in college, and I was able to merge my scientific interests with my love of working with children by pursuing a Ph.D. in developmental psychology here at UVA. Now, as a College Fellow, I look forward to being a part of my students’ journeys as they discover their own passions and find the things in their lives that bring them the most happiness.
